Over the years I have found that every guitar sounds different in its own way. The differences are sometimes small. Inexpensive guitars can sound very good. In this video I played a Samick Avion 1 guitar as well as a very old 1968 Fender Telecaster and a very modern PRS SE guitar. For all 3 guitars I selected the middle pickup selector for the clean sound. This way I get the best tone using all pickups on the guitars. The amp used is a 50 watt VOX VT50. I'm running it on a clean setting with just a touch of compression. In the video you can hear that the low cost Samick sounds very good (nice guitar) with a full body. The Telecaster has a super clean sound that is very pleasant to listen to. The PRS is designed for sustain and has a bit more bite in the notes, but overall a very nice sound. Everything was recorded with a camera/mic that was placed approx 4 feet away from the amp. What do you think?

  • really cool vid. i like the tele the best. it has such a nice sparkle to it.

what song is this? really cool song

  • @vascvas Thanks for the comments. The tune is really something I put together quickly for the video.

  • Hey, nice playing there! I'm buying an electric guitar soon, but I'm having SO much trouble choosing one! I've played the acoustic western guitar for about 1.5 years now, and I'm pretty good, not as much with licks and solo but more like a rythm guitarist. I like playing while singing. I like to play John Mayer, Coldplay, Radiohead, stuff like that, rock, stuff like that. I dont have too much money, I have been looking at a 1996 Epi Les paul. Do you think that is a good choice?

  • @bluedagger46 There are several versions of the Les Paul by Epiphone. Some are OK and some are very good. Since you don't have much cash, I'd stay away from the low cost Epiphones. Perhaps a low cost Fender Squire would suit you better (solid guitars), or the low cost Samick Greg Bennett models (all well made).

  • Will the samick be a good 1st Electric guitar?I have been playing an acoustic for 6 months and know how to play barre chords....I largely play alt rock(audioslave, coldplay).any help would be nice....and do the avion av3 pick ups suck too?

  • @csbkoool The Samick AV1 is an excellent first guitar based on quality for price. The AV3, by design, will give you a better tone than the AV1.

  • Telecaster the best, followed by the AV1 and PRS quite a distant third. But it's all subjective of course.

  • @csbkoool I used a samick AV1 as well. It's been 4years already and I haven change any guitar. It's my first guitar as well.

  • Hey I'm own a Samick AV1 too. But isn't it abit erm..awkward to compare it with a Fender and a PRS? :/

  • Fender ftw :)

  • Well, you know what they say, "Les is more!"

  • that PRS had wayyy too much bite.
