Oook-ay, so I hope you'll forgive the flaws I made -as usual... I think my mind'll never cope up with the fact that I'm being recorded, when on concerts or with friends everything's almost perfect, though. Adding to this, I have been ill once again and am hardly recovering (the reason why I'm not singing here).

So here is just a silly video celebrating St Paddy's day -do I have to precise I'm fond of green, Celticness AND beer? ;D- and introducing my new harp. This lovely Beauty is the "Janet" model from Camac, named after the great Celtic harpist Janet Harbison. Gosh, I just love everything about her, though I really have to play more and more everyday, so that the wood will mature and she'll get a better sound in a few years.

I followed OrchestrationOnline's helpful advice so that I move my camera farther away from me so the microphone doesn't distort, while adjusting the zoom to a close-up. I'm still not satisfied with the audio which is still terribly jangly and doesn't give justice to my harp's true sound...

The first introductory tune is a composition of mine, and belongs to the work I made with my former band Dusk of Nyr. Do not hesitate to listen to our tunes on our MySpace, BTW. ;)

The second tune is a Briton lullaby called Ar Dragon Yaouank, which Cécile Corbel learnt me a few years ago during one of her workshops in Paris... Although it is a very easy tune with a simple structure, everything's in the subtlety. I hope I'll soon make a better version of this, I'm still not really satisfied with it.

Wishing you all things best, happiness and peace of mind -Have a very nice St Paddy's Day! :)

  • What happened? I tried to link to some of your earlier work and it said it was removed?

  • Dear Balor1,

I decided to remove my old videos as I just couldn't stand anymore to see them online (chaotic rythm, approximative voice, huge flaws, lacks of subtlety and so on). I think they no longer correspond to my level and absolutely don't give justice to beautiful tunes such as Brian Boru's and La Rosa Enflorece... As soon as I get a real camcorder, I promise I'll do better versions of them. ;)

  • What a beautiful harp, what is this for harp?

  • Hi Hildegard! Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving me a comment... As I would also say to TheApo26, everything's explained in the "more infos" section. ;)

This harp is the latest celtic model from Camac, Janet, according to Celtic harper's tradition the space between its strings is narrower, thus i had to take a few days to get used to this.

    Hugs xx

Hi Charlaine, First of all - I love your wonderful music and your appearance just suits your beautiful new harp! Which wood is your harp made of? Walnut? Or is it Walnut nature? Best wishes from the Netherlands! Linda

  • Hi Linda! Thank you very much for your lovely comment...

My harp's body is made of walnut (natural finish) and the soundboard's spruce.

    Best wishes from France! :)

  • Super!!! You Celtic God-Woman))))

  • The green hat looks like you just got out of brain surgery in an Irish Hospital.

  • it's so beautifull, and a lovely girl !

  • Beautifully played - I've listened to this clip seven times in a row. Your Janet has quite a different tone to my Camac Korrigan; they're equally beautiful, but different.

Thanks for posting - I'm looking to seeing some more clips of your playing. Best wishes from Wales

  • Absolutely amazing showmanship/artistry, as well as technique. A performance is nothing when you can't see how epically it moves the performer.

  • Wow I like hearing your sweet music !! Keep it up :)

  • charlaine72, I understand. I eagerly look forward to hearing them (although I must say I was a bit sad - I had those earlier pieces in my favorites - they were lovely!) Best wishes!

  • Really nice Charlaine. Very enjoyable and relaxing. 5*****

Love the tone of the harp. What flaws? I didn't notice any but I agree with you about the video camera. I always get nervous when I see that red light! LOL

    Greetings from Ireland.

    Terry
