This is a day I shall never forget, as I have seen steam work up the 1 in 37 Lickey Incline for the first in my life. A big thanks to Greg, without whose help I would not have found this location at Vigo Crossing. It's one of these two people locations, and although I was there two hours before the train was due, I only managed the third best spot. However by the time that the train arrived a little late, there were hundreds around this location. The Bristol to Preston Leg of The Great Britain 111 train with 44871 and 70013 Oliver Cromwell at the head, storms this notorious incline with thirteen on. Extra tension was created by a fast approaching Voyages heading down the incline, but luckily it just missed. Also seen briefly are D1015 Western Champion, and WCR 47660 following as a backup. The weather was perfect and I went home a very happy man...Bob

  • @HarryPotter573 Thanks very much, Bob

  • Great video. Which 2 stations is the Lickey Incline in between?

  • @scotsguardsman100 Not my part of the world, but Bromsgrove is at the bottom of the incline, and I'm not sure where the next station is over the summit....Bob

  • @robmasterman

BARNT GREEN is the next station up the line. Up until the mid 1960s it was Blackwell

  • @zogozogo Thanks very much for that information....Bob

  • @M1A4Sherman Thanks for watching, both these locos have two cylinders each, rather than the three or four that some designs have, and this always gives them that distinctive bark to the exhaust...Bob

  • @santafemad Thank you for your kind comments...Bob
