  • With the release version of OG, I had same problem, no "View panes" option in the panel layout/content part. After updating to newest devel version of OG, (the June 2011 version), then I did get the view panes option.

Thanks for the video, I wish you would pause a bit more when you are clicking buttons. The interface in Drupal 7.4 is just a bit different, and I can't follow along with you. But the pause and rewind does help.

  • @pauljohn32 I'm glad you found it usefull!

I have put together a new series that covers Organic Groups in Drupal 7. You can find it at: ModulesUnraveled(dot)com I think that it is tons better :)

  • Hey!

Thank you so much for that video, I had the exactly same problems, and your video helped a lot already, but i do still have a problem and I hoped you may know how to fix this..

I followed your instructions till 7:22, but I do not have the option " Views" or "views pane" on the left side. I also saw that I don't have as many options under "config/groups" as you have, but till now that wasn't important. I checked twice and more but I do have all the modules active you have. Any idea?

  • @bloggingMe are you using the latest versions of all the modules? I used the dev versions of everything in my video. If you're using OG 7.x-1.0 etc. you won't have all of the options. The modules are constantly being updated, so if you're using a alpha, beta, 1.0 etc. you may not have all of the options.

  • @lewistechwebdesign Thank you for this video. I've watched it several times and have found it invaluable. I need to upgrade my version of organic groups from OG 7.x-1.0 to the .dev version. However I cannot find any instructions on how to do so. None of the generic documentation makes sense as I cannot match the folders I see in my download with what is on my server. Help would be very much appreciated. Thanks

  • @elsabe5 for some reason YouTube won't let me post my reply here. So I've posted your comment and my reply on my website. The link is in the video description, just hit "Show more."

  • @lewistechwebdesign Thanks so much for this, it really sped the process up for me. Ignore those who tell you to slow down, that's what the 'pause' button is for!

  • @lewistechwebdesign thanks! Yes, after I updated all plugins it worked out. I already had the dev versions, but from an older date.

I still have trouble getting it done what I want without errormsgs, but I'm getting closer! Thank you so very much!

  • Any chance that there is an ability to link organic groups with the user reference field? I am working on a project that requires people with limited experience to have their own user interface to create permissions or allow certain groups of people that they can enter into a simple field specific permissions for only that group. That way they can control who is able to see a particular View from the view module, and who is not.
