@susansmith44 Good on ya! I still wear the stuff mostly, I wouldn't have any jeans except Levis (maybe Wrangler) and Fred Perrys are still the best casuals and a nice crisp button-down Benny for nights out but what a bloody price. And yep, the Docs, can't beat them for work or play.

My older sister was a skinhead girl at the start of the 70s, and by the time I was old enough to find a pair of docs to fit me, the short skirts were well 'out'. Shame. The second wave of skin girls from '79 seemed to favour the mini denim skirt, but as I recall the girls used to wear pretty much what the blokes did: crombie, Fred Perry or Ben Sherman, girls seldom wore Doc Martens. Feather cut hair. Loafers, pasties, wedge heels, maybe bumper boots. Maybe knee-length skirts, but mostly jeans.
