This policy saved me a lot of money on my student loans, and it saved $ 60 Billion from other areas. I think people want each president to fail so they have an excuse to suck at life, this was a good reform law and denying that is denying reality.

The whole point is that college degrees are devalued. Just like housing a college education has become subject to a false raising of value of the college experience. All to charge you ongoing interest paid to the banks before you pay for your education. The banks get their interest paid first then you work on what you owe the college. In foreign countries folks who have the grades go to college and it's paid for by the government with a promise you will work for the government in return.

This is great President Obama! I was a student who went to college on an athletic scholarship. But when i finished my athlete years i still had two years of college left and no way to pay for it. So i pulled out a lot of loans which worried and stressed me every semester as to how long it would take me to pay it back after i graduated. Just the though had me feeling overwhelmed and made me hesitate to go into grad school. But this plan really eases a lot of stress!

Looking at these top comments makes me quite happy. Because it shows that American's got brains and are not all silly and asocial creatures. Sorry but how normal people get exploited by the rich and when they earn more the money would go for a big part back to the companies but also a lot of the money goes to the Chinese.. that pretty sad, if you ask me.
Maybe something to focus on for the next few years?

I'm a doc. Student loan: $132,700. But - since when I graduated there was only 1yr of deferment during a 3yr residency the loans accrued $32,500 in interest. Next month, payment 102/360 I will have paid off the capitalized interest and will now almost 9 yrs into the loan start paying what I borrowed. I have paid $57,730 interest so far. $90K re-payed in 9 years and I still haven't paid one cent to principle. This system is broken.

As a registered nurse, who has $27,000 dollars of student loan debt, I THANK YOU President Obama! I just put in my application for the Special Direct Consolidation of my student loans. You already have my vote (again) this November.
