@diesal1fe For example, Jia Xu almost killed Cao Cao and killed his son at one point, but when Jia Xu surrendered to him, he forgave him and Jia Xu became one of Cao Cao's top strategists. So Liu Bei knew Cao Cao was going to forgive Lu Bu and he did what he could do to prevent it. Also, Liu Bei claimed to have emperor's secret order to kill Cao Cao and that gave Yuan Shao an excuse to fight Cao Cao. People say Liu Bei was just a lucky loser, but I don't think so.

@diesal1fe I personally think both were great heroes of their time. If Liu Bei was such a loser, why did talented people like Guan Yu, Zhao Yun, Zhang Fei, etc., join Liu Bei? Also Liu Bei was the one that pursuaded Cao Cao to kill Lu Bu because he feared that Lu Bu under Cao Cao's control would make him invincible and Cao Cao was known for using any person as long as they had talent.

@diesal1fe there is more than one version of ROTK and one of them depicts Liu Bei as a man of virtue and justice and Cao Cao as villain. And that one is the one which has been read more commonly by general public. Is other version more accurate tho? Who knows, since it was written by another person as well. Anyways, yea some people see Liu Bei as a lucky loser and some don't.
