Classic Game Room HD reviews TEKKEN 3 for PS1 from Namco, released in 1998 for the Playstation 1. Tekken 3 has some improvements and new characters over Tekken 2 and refines the game slightly, but does it perfect perfection? Pretty much as far as CGR is concerned. This 3rd installment in the Tekken series is regarded as one of the best Playstation 1 fighting games on PSone (PSX) with 3D styled characters beating the crap out of each other. Complex button combos make for a challenging game as Tekken 3 contains numerous gameplay modes including the arcade mode, survival and Tekken Force mode which is like Streets of Rage with Tekken characters. This CGR review of Tekken 3 has gameplay from the PS1 classic, Tekken 3, showing game play during the PS1 fighting game in action.

  • Classic fighting fun.

  • @TheAdam159 Exactly,i don't get why some people perfer 6 over 3........i just look at them crazy.True enough everybody has a opinion but as fact T3 was the best out of all of them. It's also underrated when it comes to the MK and SF games(which im a fan of all 3 series but for the last 10-13 years or so i know Tekken 3 has been more to play over the 00's verion of MK and the late 00's early 10's version SF.The Ps1 was at it's best and it looked beautiful with amazing graphics from that time.

  • In order from best to worst, I'd put the series like this:

    T3- amazing

Tekken Tag Tournament- very good indeed

T5- a nice return to form

T2- pretty good, not as good as 3, but still enjoyable

T6- quite good, but the story mode is dodgy

Tekken 1- dated. None of the extras we are used to from the following games in the series. The only game in the series that looks graphically very choppy today. Okay, but only from a historical point of view

    Tekken 4- not good.

  • @Thekingpac2014 It will be very hard for them to ever top T3. I still don't think they have topped it yet. It just had the perfect balance. Great moves, great character design (T3 had the coolest costumes, and the best Yoshimitsu ever, in my opinion), awesome background music, cool and memorable ending videos, cool unlockables. Ever since 3, they've been trying to replicate its success. PS1 gaming at its most classic. T4 was a piece of shit next to 3. 6 is not bad, but still not as good as 3

  • @TheAdam159 IKR!I played it one time only in the arcade. And it was so below avg it wasn't even funny.I remember people not going near the game.I was thinking to myself"who the fuck was over this game it made it suck so bad".I didn't get to play the it on the ps1 or ps2 but after i saw what i saw in the arcade i didn't want to.My friend has T6 and says it's great,T2 was ok,T5 was good not great but not bad.T3 will always be my favorite in the series no matter how good TvsSF is Haven't played it.

  • @Thekingpac2014 In my opinion, Tekken 4 was the weakest game in the series. They made a lot of changes. Strange costume choices, gameplay alterations, some character omissions (Jack wasn't in it, the only Tekken in which he does not appear). Tekken 3 is still the best. Tekken 2 and 5 are not bad. Tekken 6 is pretty good, but it has a dodgy story mode (for some reason, they made the scrolling beat em up the main story mode). Tekken Tag Tournament is great, and maybe the best next to 3.

  • @RobertsDigital I miss those times too. The PS1 days were the best... So many awesome games on the PS1. I still have quite a few Playstation games, and prefer them to a lot of the newer releases on PS3

  • @abc4781 Me too, friend. I still own the PS1 disc of this game and play it often. I have played every Tekken game, this one is still the best in the series.

  • This is still the best Tekken game, IMO. Just think of the memorable characters, ending videos, background music, moves, etc. Every Tekken since this one has tried to replicate the Tekken 3 formula. Best fighting game ever.

  • This IS the ultimate fighting game. It had the characters, the music, the moves, the character sound effects. Best fighting game of all time.
