Transmission in manual (sport mode) shifts from 1st to 3rd gear, completely skipping over 2nd. In Auto mode, transmission shifts as expected.

  • Basically, you can't shift better than the computer, unless you shift before it reaches to the point where you are about to rev the engine.

  • @yoonyong8925 The computer shifts the car WAY before it's "revved" or redlined. The "sport mode" in this car is bullshit. I know this now...wish I knew it before I bought it.

Regardless of when the computer "thinks" it should be shifted, in shift mode I should be able to shift it wherever I want to.

But I agree, after spending more time with the car I've realized I'm missing the computers shift point by a few RPMs and "double shifting" it. User error on a shit system.

  • @therising1 also they do that so you don't fuck up the engine bouncing the rev limiter.

  • @10fintec Then why is it shifting a full 1kRPMs lower than the redline and about 300-500rpm lower than where it shifts in auto?

I get the idea of shifting the car automatically when it is in sport mode to "protect" the motor (though I don't agree with it) but it's still shifting before it should IMO. In the dyno vid here on YT you see it making peak power at about 6.1kRPM, but the car still shifts at about 6.3kRPM...so don't tell me it shifts where it makes the most power...that's BS.

  • evo 10's or sti's (from a roll obviously, dont embarrass yourself) and you will see. all about the computer! hope this helped..

  • once you hit 5000-5500 rpm shift up, FEATHER (as if drifting) the gass between 3/4 throt, and WOT. this will give you precious 2'nd gear full 17.4 psi boost. for a short time. then floor it and put it back into drive, as you WILL NOT shift at better points than the computer 3rd thru 6th gear. this will get you a 0-60 in the 5's. on 93 oct i was able to take a e46 m3 from a roll to 155 by a few car lengths (2 or 3). THE CAR LEARNS! dont believe me? do what i said and race one of ur boys

  • let me clear confusion.... this car is fucking quick! u just need to learn how... first off. feed the car 93oct. at the pump for a couple weeks. the car has a very advanced ecu and it will learn a new injector firing pattern because the 93 is ignited easier than lesser oct. this really translates to a base hp of around 290-295hp, instead of the 274 on regular. and a power-to-weight that would shame most cars.. for the launch.. dsc off.. put in "sport mode" with the stick! not paddles. floor it,

  • But I do see that you and the computer is shifting around 5.5krpm, instead of at 6.3k. Let the computer shift on shift tronic mode, and see what happens.

  • @turbopunch That is exactly what's going on...This guy thinks it's an issue, but it really isn't.

  • @turbopunch That is exactly what it is. Well explained.... That's probably why this is uploaded as "issue" for the first time..

  • that's what I mean. "befor it's revved" or "go over RPM which can't give you any more power," so it's shifting affectively and efficiently. Yet, I know how you feel. I have a Q7 and tiptronic doesn't shift to the next gear unless you shift. However, this is perfectly normal for sonatas. For the car company to give you 10yr/60k transmission warranty? I'm sure their shift tronic is a way to save it for a long term. I've seen a lot of folks, breaking the engine down, just from reving time to time
