Any multiple-birth delivery is considered a high-risk pregnancy, and extra care is needed to ensure a smooth transition from pregnancy to birth. Moms can develop high blood pressure or require bed rest, and the babies are commonly subject to premature birth. Shayla and Jason Larsen of Massillon, Ohio, feel thankful that they had Akron Children's Hospital to help them. After just 28 weeks and 5 days, doctors advised Shayla that it was time to deliver Miles, Bennett and Eliza. After Shayla gave birth, the newborns were immediately transported to Akron Childrens Hospitals neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), where they received 24-hour care and nurses helped the Larsens adjust to caring for three new babies.
