When Ryddick was 4 months old, I was not able to walk into a building when someone was carrying agility equipment. He was extremely reactive, lunged, barked.
The video is the result of how positive methods can change a dogs behavior. I rewarded him for staying somewhat calm while things where happening around him. Keeping him below threshold was key to successs. I use methods that are described in the Control Unleashed, Fiesty Fido, Click to Calm and other books and DVDs. He was never forced down, hung, jerked, kicked. He never had a prong-, choke- or eletronic collar on him. I rewarded behaviors I liked. I used the Clicker and verbal markers to effectively communicate with him.
He is not quite as calm as I would like him to be, but we are working on taking a nap next to the races.

  • Excelente vídeo! 5*

  • Thanks!

  • No matter how boring this video can be by watching it, it is extremely encouraging; my pup at 6 months ago was lunging at dogs at a dog show, barking uncontrollably (classic border collie). Thank you for sharing! Been working with him every day. I hope it pays off next dog show.

  • The secert is to take your time. Get him ready for live, should be your goal, not a trial. It will take away pressure from you and therefore your pup. I followed the CU program and recommend it to anyone.

  • Nice job! Does he do flyball? I am sure that you had a lot of proofing in other less distracting areas first. He did so wonderful. I have been working on the same stuff with my BC and it is hard to keep him under threshold. Great job!

  • No, he dose not do Flyball. He is my herder and I am trying to do Agility with him, however check out the video "Trouble with the Teeter".

  • GREAT Video!

My girl sounds alot like how your Ryddick USE to be.... thanks for sharing, i think i might look up Click to calm... :-)

  • He is getting better the more we practice. So glad he responds so well.

  • Yay Riddick! Great methods work to keep the dog under threshold! We too are a fan of CU & CTC. Amazing results! We'll see how Jess does once she starts competing but so far when we train on the sidelines at trials she is doing well.

  • Thanks.

Yes we should talk sometime at a trial.
