Sorry can`t say I agree. Sutton, Grier, Rice, etc ALL use their pinky as it is more efficient. They also don`t lift their fretting fingers up so high when noting..Good vid.
@LocoPCtheoneandonly Bluegrass players try to use open strings as much as possible because the open strings ring and fill in the sound. In the key of G, there's very little reason to use the little finger in 1st position. In fact, most bluegrass players try to avoid using the little finger because it's weak, and weakness is antithetical to speed.
