This is a video to share with you people the problem i am facing with Sony Vaio Z laptop. I have used this machine very carefully. Lately when i close the lid, i get this little play. I have to press the lid at the hinge and then only it closes completely.

I am taking this machine to the Sony Center in Mumbai (India) and i am going to see what they have to say about it.

  • Yes I'm an Indian.

  • Also i was told that if this problem not treated in time, then sometimes we have to change the entire hinge assembly. for which u have to pay...200$...since SONY says its a user created defect.

  • I went to Service center and they told me that the hinge mechanism has got jammed. The guy at the bandra store (Abhay Khanolkar) in Sony Centre was very professional and knew what the problem was. He called me in few hours and told me that the machine has been fixed. I have to check tomorrow if all is well :)

  • @santoshrane I got my laptop back and its in excellent condition. Sony guys tightened the hinges and it feels solid now.

This video is just FYI - I hope it helps people to diagnoe the problem and get it fixed asap.
