A thunderous storm across the land tore,
And life as she knew it existed no more,
Rain, sleet and hail and many a gust,
Left only sad piles of rubble and dust,
Nothing remained, nothing excused,
All that she had, stolen, abused,
A wave of deep sadness that few ever feel,
Swept over her body, her breath it did steal,
Collapsing in silence, tears in each eye,
Thoughts of despair, questions of why?
Deepening pain, void black and vast,
Memories of life, thoughts of her past,
Empty and hollow, now beyond crying,
Candle inside, shrinking and dying,
Please, God in heaven, take me away,
No other words could she murmur or say,
But soul would not leave, give up, depart,
So body kept breathing and beating her heart,
Passing of time, wind, sun and rain,
Seasons, surrender, easing of pain,
Releasing of past and all that had bound,
In her dark place, a new strength was found!
Letting go further, love filled her heart,
Colours got brighter; she chose a new start,
Moments of joy, beauty so great,
Perhaps this was part of some greater fate?
Radiance, wonder, amaze, love and awe,
Magnificent world is what she now saw,
Smiling at thoughts of all that had mattered,
Fake, empty, needy her illusion had shattered!
Higher dimensions, free from what pained,
Everything lot and infinity gained
