What prison sentence should Baby Grace's parents receive?

The badly beaten body of 2-year-old Riley Ann Sawyers, otherwise known as "Baby Grace", was found in a plastic tub by the shore of Galveston Bay, Texas. She had been repeatedly abused by her mother and stepfather.

Riley Ann Sawyers' mother told authorities that she and the girl's stepfather beat and tortured the child to death in July, court documents show.

What kind of sentence should her parents receive for their heinous and insensitive crime against their own young daughter? Death? Life without parole?

i would hope these people are sent to jail for a long time - killing them seems too quick - if you could make it slow and painfull then yes execute them but a quick death is not acceptible they need to suffer for what they did.

i hope they don't get death just life cause there is 1 rule in prision no hurting a child. a guy malested a child he tied 3 weeks later in prsion.. and the guards saw and didnt give a damn

High depravity. Repeated abuse + murder of an innocent person. I doubt something this heinous would be an out-of-character bad moment in an otherwise normal life; they are probably depraved all the time. Might as well execute them. Humanely. I'm not into eye-for-an-eye. Just dispose of them. Subtract them and their depravity from the world.

I was emotionally reactive to this story - much like the other commenters below. But when I went to the website and took the survey, I was able to relate the crime to the justice system and to 'evil' differently. Not that my emotional reactions were dismissed, but I was able to objectively view the crime through the lens of classification. I urge everyone to take this survey.

The DA didn't even offer the death penalty because...this is truly nauseating...THE POLICE COULDN'T PROVE THAT THE TWO MURDERERS WOULD BE A CONTINUED THREAT. Excuse me while I go vomit...

They need to be locked up in a cell 24/7 with rats and roaches crawling all over them. When they scream they should have a pillow shoved over their faces and their heads shoved in a pail of water. This should happen every day until they either die from the torture, kill themselves or from natural causes. Even that is too good for them.

If I could change capital punishment, I'd make it legal to impale people like them, right out in the middle of everything and everyone. That's a nice, slow, medieval death. It's not merciful in the least, a perfect match for those monsters.

Otherwise, yes, they should rot in prison and be fresh meat for their fellow inmates.

I agree. Most of today's prisoners have been abused and molested, themselves, and hold a very big grudge. Their justice is just right.
