Needs result of emotional unbalance. We do everything necessary to balance ourselves, just as air rushes from high pressure to no pressure. The stronger the need, the stronger the wind (effect). If we manage to balance ourselves we achieve fulfillment and attain happiness. This need-achievement cycle is what creates purpose. As simple as that.
