This man's voice is perfect. There is no straining, he has perfect control, pitch, breath support, shaping of phrases and there is no breaks in his voice. The tone in his voice is warm and fuzzy (for lack of a better word...) with no harshness in it whatsoever. Absolutely breathtaking.

rich pure clear tone - as a sound its the best of his various youtube clips - subtle and easily lost

Spyres is undoubtedly the next greatest opera star. Soon enough, bigots will get over Paul Potts just because he was on television, and they'll also realize that Bocelli can't come anywhere NEAR Michael Spyres. From a technical standpoint, the only person who I believe is better than Spyres is Jussi Bjorling. Other than that, no one is there.

@girobaz I'm sorry I thought you were one of those "Christian"death metal head bangers, bashing classical music. My sincere apologies, God bless you...

@adonelahi Wow! what a blistering hateful response. You who say we should not judge have spewed out such judgmental hateful speech!
I don't condemn this music. I love it! I don't deny Michael's technical prowess I admire it!
I merely say that his interpretation needs sincerity. But do continue to sing such glorious God-exalting music, Michael!

His voice is nothing other then perfection...God bless him.

WHAT A BEAUTIFUL VOICE AND WHAT BEAUTIFUL HEAVENLY MUSIC!!!!!

@girobaz Those who judge shall be judged. -Christ.... I wont be tuning into your headbanging rectum choir of squeaky wet, rancid, infected, penetrated red, blistered, puss oozing, band or rectums... If you can condemn this music, you are a barren of HELL!!!

@maulwurfchen I'm with you on this; however for many music is a religion and not just the mathematics of meter and notation.
I don't believe in organized religion, but can relish the beauty and heart of Händel's fervor in this music; Spyres has a beautiful and natural voice, but does sing rather detachedly.

@maulwurfchen I am deeply "disturbed" that you are hinting that people with faith in a higher power don't use reason and intellect. Perhaps you should have ommitted those two words, "reason and intellect", because those with faith can indeed use reason. To assume otherwise is a faulty assumption

@girobaz For Heaven's sake, can YOU sing this very difficult music? If so, please post a link to your video. I personally see a lot of expression in this young man's face. I'm a soprano and voice teacher with over 30 years experience.
I think he is so focused on vocal production and his interpretation is cold and lifeless. It is a song that brings comfort because the Messiah has come and brought hope and salvation.
This performance, although effective technically, fails in interpretation just like so many churches, the building is there but the spirit has departed and religion has become merely a showcase of personal skill with no true worship to the God for whom the building was erected for.

@girobaz While it is everyone right to express faith or spiritual believes through music, I am deeply disturbed by the implication that people who use reason and intellect and don't suffer from religious delusion should be excluded from enjoying wonderful music like Handel's Messiah - be is as performer or listener. I strongly object to judging an artist by his religious earnestness (or lack thereof). Music is a great gift from past (and current) generations to be shared by everyone.
