We here in Canada are still trying to get our languages and culture back, I hope one day we can say these things proudly.

It's like what happened in my country, Ireland for speaking Gaelic under British rule. Luckily now things have changed but still it remains a less spoken and represented than English yet is official. At least I can speak my ancient and beautiful tongue! :)

i think that the "foreigners" were just jealous of our beautiful sun-colored skin, our bold na kakau(tattoos) and our beautiful language. I really dont like how "people" push their customs on a race/people in turn forsing their native tounge.culture out of their lives! WATCH THE MOVIE "RABBIT PROOF FENCE"

To be punished for speaking your own language is horrifying. And such a beautiful language too...

has it really turned around?? are our languages really being supported by societies?
Yes,,,never lose your native language and culture even if some people are lazy to learn it and prefer to teach their language so they can be understood. *like the missionaries* I believe that Hawaiians should learn their native language first even thou they are part of the USA. =D there was an independent Hawaii before a USA.

This is just f***ing stupid! No one should get beat up for speaking in their language. If someone did that to me, I would take that ruler from their hand and rap it around their head! POW!
