If you want it to start in the morning, make sure its not a landrover. i have had 9 defenders and they have all been great until the most recent (puma engine) which broke down at least every 3 months, so i bought a discovery and that broke down 9 times in 2 years. total repair bills came to 23k. i now buy german

Winches are for winching, tow ropes are for towing, recovery ropes are for recovery...

G4 has active locking rear diff iirc, so would have been activated.
sometimes even the best can get stuck,
superb car though, hoping to buy and run one in sept, lpg should make it cheapish to run

Firstly, a recovery rope was used, the recovery point is under the winch mount so an easy mistake unless you're familiar with the vehicle... ;-)
Secondly, if you've bought a Wermacht staff car, you probably deserve it!
