New Music Minute Featuring Old 97's & Gossip

OLD 97's

Some bands blast out of the gate and never recapture their early energy. Other bands establish themselves as models of consistency. Still other bands take a while to find them. And then there are bands like the Old 97s, who blast out of the gate, establish themselves as models of consistency, take a while to find themselves, and then, fifteen years in, deliver a glorious record that sums up everything about them that fans have always loved. With Blame It On Gravity, the latest Old 97's record the band has made its definitive statement.

GOSSIP
Gossip is a band consisting of: Beth Ditto (vocals), Brace Paine (guitar, bass,) and Hannah Blilie (drums). Gossip is one of pop music's most uncompromised bands.
In April 2008, they put all of their personal relationships and other commitments on hold to jump on a plane, land, bundle up in a van and then drive to a city near you in celebration of "Gossip - Live In Liverpool." Gossip was chosen as the featured artist in MTV's "52/52" campaign which is a new way to give 'unprecedented exposure" to unsigned artists, and 'indie bands', in a completely new and innovative way. They recently made an appearance on the David Letterman Show.

Love the Old 97's and hearing their thoughts spoken. The telling of how the stories come to be told. You are a great rockin band but like springsteen...the lyrics keep us coming back. My first exposure was at the Granada at one of your many benefit concerts. My hubby and i were the only ones who weren't singing in the whole place. We bought the cd's and learned the lyrics on the way to Austin to see you at Stubbs(?) This time we were singing along with the rest of the mob!
