Very good point, and some of that intelligence can be lost later due to conventional teaching. All children, and especially gifted children, learn differently. Forcing a child with a differnt order of intelligence to learn through conventional teaching can damage intellectual potential and lead to the development of lifelong psychological disturbances. An example of such a psychological disturbace might be Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

Young children are accually very intelligent, they just dont demenstate it the way an older person might. They understand when they are being analyzed and behave differently.

This is ground breaking? I bet someone got a grant for this somewhere.
Any half decent parent knows that you need your child to explain it back to you, otherwise you don't know if they understand or are just copying.
Like reading, you close the book and get your child to tell you what happened. So you know they understand the story and not just reading individual words in isolation.
