@FreeTibetChinaOUT True that. Religion gets in the way always. Superstition is always harmfull, and never usefull. Liberation of women globally is the key. When women are free, they have less children and raise those children properly. Setting women free would end overpopulation and poverty.
We need laws protecting children from religious indoctrination. 18+ age restriction on religious brainwashing would kill organised superstition in one generation.

@bary1234 Cont: that is why we need to relieve people of their nonsensical belief especially when it gets in the way of human advancement. You may believe whatever you like, but you cannot impose it on others. When you do that and hinder others from progressing further then I have a problem with that kind of belief system. That is why we need people like Sam Harris to bludgeon some sense into those neolithic brains.

@bary1234 :People tell me this planet can support 10 billion but I think they miss the point. It may support 10 billion if we can live on third world capacity but it certainly would not if everybody wishes to live excessively like the first world countries. It is not possible with such waste extravagance. At the risk of sounding cliche, it is education that is key, especially in the poor countries, especially further education of women. Religion gets in the way sometimes. That is bad.

@FreeTibetChinaOUT Yup, human overpopulation is number one, superstition is number 2 and human greed and tribalism is number 3.
Overgrazing of "common" resourcess is absolutely devastating the biodiversity of this planet at an astonishing rate. We are killing species to extinction faster than a killer meteorite.
Civilized countries are stopping their overpopulation, Japan for example is apparently going to reduce its populus drastically because people dont care for sex anymore

@bary1234 I keep telling people human overpopulation is the main problem we have right now aside from the religious fanaticism. It leds to all sorts of social problems, resource allocations, pollution, other environmental problems dealing with animal habitate and species deterioration. I want to turn half of China, India, and Middle East into celibate monks and nuns to help the world curb its population. haha. Good to know you will not run out of water like India and China.
-
@FreeTibetChinaOUT : Type one is close, I think. We have so much amazing technology and science we should be able to make it.
On the other hand, human overpopulation is absolutely horrible and devastating to all life on this planet. So who knows. I want to be optimistic, but I also worry. I am very gratefull every day that I live in Finland, way up north in the artic circle. We are propably one of the last places on this planet to run out of clean water and free nature.

@bary1234 I wish I was a billionaire. I will spent it on such humanitarian work to cure people of ignorance and death cults. I want our civilization to achieve class 1 civilization one day.
-
This was marvellous. We need Bill Gates to spend billion dollars spreading Sams talks all over the planet. That money would do more good to this world than all humanitarian work so far combined. We have to end superstition. These sick cults must die before they kill us.

@TheRedrum79 I agree, Sam Harris is a great speaker. Interestingly enough, he admitted in his essay "Lying" that he was to be the valedictorian at his high school but he was terrified of public speaking...so he lied to the principal to get out of doing the graduation speech.
