I don't think it was ever Arto's goal to learn to play the guitar.

Arto can most certainly play guitar. First of all, he can actually play bossa nova and other Brazilian music quite well. Secondly, despite what you think, Arto's noise is hard to make. There are lots of 25 year old art students who do this, but if you open your ears to it, you'll find that they usually are quite terrible and truly "one dimensional," compared to most of Arto's work. Some people find noise beautiful, whether you like it or not! Sorry if it offends your sensibilities

All sound is music - if you listen with an open mind. It's about how you relate to sound that makes music. The guitar is an instrument capable of producing an endless variety of sounds - why limit the guitar to conventional techniques?

Arto is playing the amp and speakers just as much as he is the guitar - it's all one thing.

What you believe and cling to makes you unavailable to hear anything new.
