Not including those that have a genuine misconception of modern day translations, why do you suppose that some people like to perpetuate this rumor despite having knowledge that it is not true?
@lefayad1991, I don't. For me, it's written in too much of an old english vocabulary. For one, words mean different things now compared to then, like "want" for example. Back then, "shall not want" meant "will not lack".
Anyways, I read the ESV, but if you use technology to read the word, then go with e-Sword (software) or Bible.cc (web site). Then you can see multiple translations and even word-for-word greek word translations. It's awesome stuff.
Nevermind, I just glanced at this without reason the content is already here. I'll revert to the last half of my previous comment in response. IOW... just because YOU don't know anyone that believes x does not mean that x is false... OR true. That's bias.
@forest51690 Saying what? Sorry, but I have lots of conversations going on with lots of people, you're number 23.. if you want to claim something I'm saying is not true, please reference it. And BTW, just because YOU don't know anyone that believes x does not mean that x is false... OR true.

@whanethewhip, I don't think I know anyone who says this knowing that it's not true. Most people I know are just misinformed.

question: do you believe that the King James Version is the only acceptable translation of the bible? If now, which version do you use?
