I can't believe the president of the US would advocate "whooping" another person's child. I thought usage of slang such as "whoop" left the white house with George Bush.

Dear solwolfpunk,

If Pres. had said these words to a white audience, you would have heard about it.
It's illegal to tell someone to beat another's child.

This event took place on 7/16.09, the day before Ted Strickland banned the use of corporal punishment in public schools in Ohio. They went forward that day.

A boy emailed me: his mom cut that sec out of the president's transcript and taped it to the frig. Now he is whup'd reg. with the blessings of our president.

How sad.

Perhaps they should change the acronym to National African Association of Corporal Punishment. I wonder how Obama would like it if the folks at 18 Pennsylvania Avenue whooped Sasha or Malia with a wooden board. It's this mentality that holds blacks back, not advances equality. If he doesn't want his kids spanked by the neighbors, he shouldn't be advocating for others to do it to their own neighbor's kids.

FacedPalmedPlanet,

The president is referring to Black Americans. According to national governmental statistics, 1 out of 3 Black Americans living in poverty will end up in prison. The primary targets for school beatings are Black American boys...thus, the pipeline to prison, the fastest and largest indoor slave plantation ever.
Please visit The Hitting Stops Here dot Comm to learn more. Near the top, see GAO, ACLU and UC Davis reports. Just read 1st 3pages of each for starters.

It's pretty shocking and disgusting to hear our president speak about hitting our children, and that somehow leading to better grades.

Hi KatRocks333,
It is very sad. Our president knows that in these poverty stricken sections of our country, Black boys, in particular, are being beaten like they were on ole slave massa's plantation. They cannot exit poverty if school is someplace they want to leave at the first possible moment.
Our president knows this.
God will never bless his leadership for "CHANGE" in America while he turns his back on children suffering under his nose.
How he sleeps at night is a mystery.
Thank you,
Paula
