Season 14 - Episode 17 - Series Episode #480 - Aired: January 20, 1969

Will Mannon, brutal and sadistic, comes to Dodge City planning to kill Matt Dillon and cement his fearsome reputation. He first shoots and wounds Festus outside of Dodge, leaving Festus lying in the dirt and taking his mule Ruth to ride into town. He intimidates Dodge City residents, claiming to hold four aces in a poker game with the other players afraid to see his actual hand. Finally, he assaults Kitty. Finally, Matt returns to Dodge to confront the brutal Mannon.

thank you for posting this . i am looking for a a episode where Newly finds the marshall before he reached dodge and told him a gunman had gunned down festus in the street and matt riggs up a padding tobuffer a bullet from a faster gunman. was this that episode ?

OF ALL THE CHARACTERS ON GUNSMOKE STEVE FOREST IS THE SECOND BEST WHEN IT COMES TO THE FAST GUNMAN. MARSHALL DILLION IS BETTER.THE ACTOR THAT PLAYED THE TOWN DRUNK LOUIE (JAMES BEST) WHAT OTHER MOVIES BESIDE GUNSMOKE IS HE BEST REMEMBER.

this is the episode that ties in with "Return to Dodge", the 1989 TV movie.

there's also an episode called MORGAN with Steve Forest, aired on Mar.2, 1970. He took over Dodge then also, with a bunch of men to steal a Gold shipment Matt is bringing in.. He was equally a dirtbag in this one also! And Kitty was a primary character in this too.

some of this episode was edited as I guess all of them are some, at the saloon mannon tells sam he can kill him and newly before sam can pull the trigger of the shotgun wit hit already cocked and aimed and before newly could draw his. If you watch return to dodge youll see as kitty recalls it.

Its great to see these classic episodes of this great western tv series!!

I remember growing up to them with my parents & is probably I am still a "wannabee" cowboy today!

I was wondering though if anyone can help!  MY particular memories seem to revolve around fights - good old fashioned brawls and fisty cuffs!

More so when they were in water - near or in a river/lake or when of them gets thrown into the mud or a "handy" horse water trough!

Can anyone help me identify any episodes? Thanks :)
