Restaurant review of Howard's Pub on Ocracoke Island, NC. It occupies the site of what flourished briefly in the 1850s as a pub (Howard's) before it sank into the sands of this reputedly haunted island. Menu items focus on burgers, steaks, fresh oysters and shellfish, barbecued ribs, grilled fish, Maine lobster, and shrimp. Howard's stocks over than 200 kinds of beer, one of the largest selections on the Outer Banks. Overall good experience for a party of ten.

  • Okay, so out of all the fresh seafood at Howard's Pub that you couldn't get anywhere else on the mainland, the kids get chicken wings?

  • Hey, that's what the kids wanted.

BTW, we back back the following week and we ordered the calamari as an appetizer and I must say it was disappointing. We will not be ordering it again.

  • oyster shooters, blackened tuna, fried pickels, tuna bites, seafood platter. delicious.

  • That was one of the only places that we'd actually LIKED on Ocracoke Island, we went there while we were on a week's vacation in Frisco, with a lot of other family mates. For a half a day, we were here, and let me just say, getting in was a hastle. We had to wait 40 minutes until we got in, but the wait was worth it! They had delicious food, and very good fish.

  • @schwarav wow you got to love people that base everyone of one or two people. you have no idea about New York.

  • Was there last night. Has the grilled mahi, black beans and rice and the red potatoes. The portions were good, the food was excellent, and nothing was over seasoned...so you could actually taste the freshness of the food instead of having the taste masked by old bay and salt. Looking forward to spending my Friday nights there all season...

  • Your right they dont get it

  • You New York people need to stay in new york...no one wants you people down here. Just gonna mung up the outer banks too

  • the foods ok at best. the wait isnt worth the quality of the food. had a bowl of chowder there that was pretty good, but the name of it escapes me. as a whole ocracoke is beautiful.

  • i'm stuck here in jersey till the 5th of september and then i'll be on the banx ! cant wait

  • I go to this place a lot to drink beer while playing bar golf on the island. It is a tourist trap and not much more these days. All the good places are closer to the marina.

  • yeah, it a great area. You should stay at the bluff shoal motel, its probably the nicest on the island, and for a nice dinner try the cafe atlantic or capn bens. As for security, the only thing that ever really gets stolen is bikes. all the time.
