Someone had asked how do I put up a countdown clock on the NASA launches and landing videos. Here's how I do it:

1. A few months ago, I created a countdown clock on a green screen, starting at 10:00, descending down to zero.

2. Using Pinnacle or any other video editor with a Chroma Key option on it (Sony Vegas has a better one, BTW), you use the Chroma Key to remove the green coloring, which should keep the white numbers.

3. If you've done it right, the white numbers of clock should take up the size of the screen. You've done the hard part, congratulations! Now, all you have to do is reduce the size of the numbers (which a good video editor should allow you to do) and put it on the location of the screen you desire.

That's all there is to it...

  • how did you make the timer? I can do everything in Pinnacle studio 10, but i want to make my own, a longer version say.

  • @Linkzy01 I don't use Pinnacle anymore...but the key is to use each movement of the clock for a second each. And, a lot of copying and pasting, and editing what you paste.

  • Thanks for this. How can I make it longer - say 25 minutes?

  • @scotjack You Tube restrictions would prevent me from making one that long...you'd just have to use a piece of video editing software like Pinnacle, Sony Vegas, or Roxio Creator, and just start at 25:00 for a second, 24:59 for a second and so on.

  • Nah, I just pay attention..
