Derren has done something that professional magicians and illusionists don't do because it's cheating.
Anyone can do camera tricks, there is nothing clever about them.
He thought he could hide it with the camera shake, but people spotted it almost immediately because of the ball that pops up slightly.
This was a dirty trick in the professional magic world.

Whether you use 1 person to predict the lottery or the "collective subconcious" of million people it makes no difference. It's still purely guess work and using lots of people gets you no closer to the right answer.
