It's a long loved story from the pen of the 19th Century female writer Marie Louise de la Ramée (aka Ouida), and now "A Dog of Flanders" is again treated by the Americans as a movie for family viewing. Like in all incarnations made in the US of A, this version makes great changes to the original story (especially the ending); but how you respond to that liberty will depend on your judgment.

Starring Jack Warden, Cheryl Ladd, Jeremy James Kissner, Jesse James and Jon Voight.

Im from Antwerp and very well know the village of Hoboken were this legend is from and it really happened, sad this legend though only survives in what they call in English "old wife's tales" i was one of the very few from Antwerp that know about this tale when i was young and i guess i'm a dying breed.
