Hola Mi Amigos! Senor Cleaver here with a campy Mexican double feature just in time for May! This week we're checking out two horror features from Mexico's "Golden Age"...the first is called "Phantom of the Red House" and plays itself out to be a cross between a strange serial and a haunted house flick. See the phantom resplendent in his lucha libre mask and wide-brimmed hat pick off unsuspecting clods one by one in the "red house". Next we have "The Genie of Darkness", which really isn't about a genie at all...it's about vampires and a scientist in a small village trying to stop them....and the subsequent burning of the smartest man in the village by the ignorant villagers...and we thought that only happened in North America! We'll finish off with two unrelated retro-mercials: A comely young woman chasing an animated chair around and a frighteningly bad ad featuring adults in chicken costumes doing laundry. It's like a Tito Santana flying elbow to
the senses this week at Meet Cleaver Theatre!
