Turtle Journal releases 110 diamondback terrapin hatchlings born from protected nests immediately after the passage of Hurricane Irene. These babies scrambled from the tip of Turtle Point on Lieutenant Island in random directions, some heading upslope into the bearberry and many heading downslope into the salt marsh Spartina patens. What a glorious sight to see! More than a hundred threatened terrapin hatchlings in one spot at one time.
