How to potty train a beagle

This is how we potty trained Lady at 6 years old. We never punish her for anything because it is simply our fault for not teaching her a positive alternative.

She goes on 4-6 walks every day. She loves to find other dogs' spot to mark on it. She gets praised right after she pees or poops, not during. That will encourage her to come to you and you can give her a treat. We started using clicker training as a much quicker way to say "Good Girl" and she knows a treat is coming next. This helps with more complex tricks but should be introduced to training separately.

After living with us for about 1 year and 4 months Lady is used to going outside and rarely has an accident. I can only think of 2 times in the past year, but if she pees inside it is our fault not hers. Either she hasn't been out soon enough or she didn't get a long enough walk to do her business. She is not to blame for having to pee and she wouldn't understand punishing her for the area that she peed in.

wow this is awesome our milo never pees or poo in the house as well. he very potty trained and i only take him out 2 times a day and he is fine with it. so far he hasnt had an accident in the house.. he used to but not anymore and he even knows when its time to go out.. he cries if i dont take him out.
