Illumine is seemingly a symbiotic musical partnership between exotic vocalist Shannon Day an accomplished composer Stephen Brown. Both of them have created a special sound that goes beyond categorization. Illumine conforms to no established rules of making popular music and Truly something different and enlightening you must listen to....It is not often that a new band hits the music scene which could truly be identified as unique, but in the case of Illumine, unique only begins to describe their sound. Two extraordinary musicians have found their way into each others lives, and began a collaborative effort which is sure to leave their audience demanding more. Shannon began singing at the early age of three. The daughter of a renowned operatic soprano, she has cultivated a unique brand of vocalization that blends trained perfection with freeform discovery, creating a sound that is pure, emotional, and eloquent. Shannon's formal music career started with the band Nu Shooz, a singer on the Grammy-nominated Gold Album Poolside. Soon after, Shannon went to Hollywood, returning today to Portland with a soulful and dramatic new music style.
Stephen Brown brings a passion and love for music that defines his work. Known as DJ Prana in the clubs and sence' to his yoga and martial art students, Stephen defines his art and career through music.
Stephen began making music over ten years ago. Possessing a passion for percussions, Stephen has integrated electronic beats with drum rhythms to define his current body of work in the band Illumine. A self-taught musician, Stephen's songwriting is profoundly emotional with a level of creativity not typically found in today's music. Stephen's command of rhythms, coupled with Shannon Day's soaring vocals defines the Illumine project, a band with the power to move people on the physical and spiritual level.
