Photoshop Tutorial: 3 Methods for Selecting Hair

A tutorial about how to select hair. It usually gives people a hard time and I am hoping with these different ones you can choose the best one that works for you.

Methods:
1. Quick selection tool
-Best for quick selections, duh, and also for very defined hair with not a lot of definition
2. Select the background (if you can)
-Best for solid backgrounds if you have one
3. Select the color channel that has the most contrast
-My personal favorite method

Again the technique for selecting hair really depends on what your situation is

Ok, this was a great tutorial, but will this method work for moving the subject from one background to another? If not , can you do a tutorial on how to do this. I really need to know how to do this. Thanx

@atadragon yeah it will. you just need to select the rest of the person/thing from the first background and then move it over to the next background. This tutorial is just to show how to select the hair (which usually gives people a hard time)

are you talking about removing a non white background? if so that can get pretty tricky. I mean the methods are all around the same but you want to take it section by section and it would take a lot of work.

That's cool. But what happens when you don't have a white background like that. I mean... Most of the photos you take can be with more dark backgrounds than that...
