At least with the CGI cartoon, Roughnecks Chronicles, they shifted the focus somewhat back to the book. With CGI they got full enviromental suits with Jump packs on.

Altough not as cool looking as a maurader with extras, but if every trooper got a maurader, their tactics would include wider dispersal of troops, limited friendly fire, which is the books reason for the failure at Battle of Klendathu.

i do i have the game and the marauder was a human not a big robot like in the movie and there was a guy that was in the game called general howser in it.
