Look at some Greek, Hindu or Minoan paintings. Its called "Canonical" style - i.e Men=Red, Women=White, Asiatics/Semites=Yellow, Sub Saharans/the dead = Black, Gods=Blue/Green.

E.g. The Eye of Horus = Wadjat = the blue eye was always made from Lapus Lazuli and was worn to resist curses. In Scandanavia they have the exact same tradition - blue eyes can resist curses. Many Egyptian statues have Lapus Lazuli eyes but they are always shown from the grey angle.
