  • i personally love the darkness that tim has in his film and i love helena's persona.the purpose for tim remaking Sweeney Todd was to make it his style which is dark & yes somewhat depressing so Mrs. Lovett's character wasn't gonna be protrayed the same way as in broadway. just because mrs Lovett in tim's film is not the same as broadway doesn't mean helena did a bad job she just brought a new style to the character and i loved it.

  • I love how she is all putting cats in pies is just wrong but putting people in pies is just fine!

  • @Americaawesome1234 To paraphrase Sondehim's own words... the notes he wrote matter. He said it on the Company OBC album film. It applies to Depp and Carter's singing which is simply not the notes Sondheim wrote. Most HS productions have better singing. Why didn't Burton just make a dark movie? Why a musical with people who can't sing?

  • Lupone's timing is impeccable! She the deliivers the words and lands the jokes just right. This is really good!

  • I love the comedy and animation Patti brought to the role! She's so adorable! The laughs she does crack me up, especially the one after the thing about the general! Very talented woman :) He makes a good Sweeney as well! How he can just get angry on certain notes like about the Beadle and the Judge.

  • Angela Landsbury the best and only Mrs. Lovett..

  • Oh my gosh she does not whine when she sings! You try sounding British, crazed , and still have an awesome voice that takes skill. I would know I have been in multiple productions

  • To the people saying LuPone is all whiny while she's singing... it's called being in character

  • @LiltedLullaby I feel exactly the same about this!!! :)

  • @wheniwasinvietnam The one in Broadway is louder, crazier, so over the top she was ridiculous. The one from the film was calmer, sweeter and a little darker.

  • what's the difference between the Mrs. Lovett on broadway and the one in the film?
