Well this is what happens when capitalism goes unchecked or unbalanced! The poor are poorer than they were years ago and the middle class is being eliminated! My only hope is that these people who are homeless did not in their past successful lives degrade the welfare state, because i think we need it now more than ever! But of course people view social programs as free giveaways and nothing worthy of existence for people in hardships, that's why poverty will continue until the end of time

@jacobromu it's not pure capitalism that is at fault. it's 'corporatism', or a soft form a fascism. pure capitalism would never result in this. government is the mechanism that allows this sort of thing. govt in bed with business = basic definition of fascism. this sort of thing happened during the great depression. guess what? they spent, and spent, and passed the new deal, while other countries suffering ended much quicker because they did not spend and pass 'new deal's.

@Cunard51 No, this is what happens when people and governments depend on debt and the trading in debt to survive. If you are making payments on your house, car, furnature, schooling, etc. then you never own anything except debt. We have lived well beyond our means for more than 50 years and it's about to get a lot worse. Imagine what will happen when our debt riddled country can't print its way out of debt and the dollar won't even be worth using as wall paper. Hyperinflation is coming!
