Continue your pursuits. No one ever said the T-bone is a male instrument. Besides(I am a male T-bone player) I have played in three bands(H.S., college and community) and the best (and most dedicated) players were female.
In high school, the first chair T-bone was a girl that became our drum major our senior year. She was outstanding. She took piano lessons which helped her sight read well, besides she had loads of talent.
