@Educationscience pull out an i from from the sqrt, then remember to multiply by i when adding this imaginary part to the real part. the negative gets lost in the 'plus or minus' . This video is by me-- this guy is trying to act smart by posting my video. :-)

Apparently, one can do this proof in about 5 lines via completing the square. LOL
