  • I just had my turbo rebiult now the motor surges has a loss of power then it takes off and runs ok for a few secounds if you listen to the tailpipe it sounds like it has a air hose running through it and that sound comes and goes it idlessound normal then the air sound it switchs back and forth the reason for the turbo rebilud was it started comeing up with a 299 code hope you can help

  • @56caldum

I would suspect your concern is not being caused by the turbo. I believe your concern is being caused by an EGR valve that is sticking open. It can even happen intermittently and not set an EGR DTC. I would recommend to remove the valve and inspect the valve and intake. There could also be large amounts of coking inside the intake that may be coming loose and holding the valve open.

  • Does it matter where the solenoid pin is when you reassemble it? Just as long as it lines up with the unison ring right? Because when I put mine back together I had it positioned between 1 and 2 o'clock.

  • @lizardman212002

There is only one way for the unison ring to fit correctly. The unison has to be in the correct position, and same with the housing. There is a locating pin to align the housing to the case, so the unison ring must be in the correct position, or the case will not go together correctly.

  • I'm pretty positive I'm leaking oil into the hot side of my turbo. Is there some kind seal kit I can order?

  • @DilleymanF250

Most likely, you leak is from the blue 45 degree charge air hose off the turbo. I would replace that hose. Once off, you can squeeze the hose and you will see perforations.

  • Hello SrMasterTech, First thanks for all your awesome videos. I was wondering if you could tell what is the socket I need to take off the bold holding on the turbo solenoid. The star shaped one. Thanks a million times for all the money you have saved me. I owe you bigtime. Skip

  • I did a few more tests. I looked In my down pipe where it joins with the turbo and noticed a black liquid it could be oil or coolant and soot. Thankfully I have no trace of oil in my intercooler pipe. The white smoke cleared. I just have a bit of blue smoke when the turbo spools then it clears once spoiled. Do you recommend more driving?

  • @DilleymanF250

If your deleted your EGR because it failed, there still may be coolant in the exhaust that can take 20 miles to clear out. If still present, it could have leaking head gaskets. blue/white smoke usually indicates lean combustion. A turbo that would stick will cause black smoke on hard acceleration. I would first check for codes, and look at what live data is showing. There are to many variables to just guess at.

  • @Davaith

I use all OEM parts on the turbo repairs. The center rotating housing, Unison and vanes are all available at your local Ford parts department!
