@lilodevil Thats not correct, its a recent myth that it was written at Ditton station. It was written at Widnes North (Farnworth) station. If he had wrote it at Ditton, he would have been on the wrong line.

it was actually written at ditton station on hale road they put the plack at widnes station as ditton station is no longer in use

I think all the stories are a little misleading. Paul has certainly never said where he wrote it, just that th song came out of this trip - the references to the movies and the factories hold up that argument. But the line "where my music's playing", surely a reference to the recently released Sounds of Silence back home in the US. Then there's Kathy, waiting silently for him. Who knows?? Great song, nice town, pleasant platform, and we had a good burger in a local pub. What else does one need?
