@TheHobophobic Yes, and also that visually tai chi hides a lot of its efforts. It's not until one actually does it that they start to fully realise the genius behind it :)

Silk reeling is a really interesting concept. It's not something that's actually unique to taiji or even CMA in general, a proper uppercut in boxing for example is actually a very soft movement that involves many of the same principles of tight circles in your abdomen and legs and torque from your hips, with your elbows in, and put all of that elastic force into your shoulder to launch your fist in the air. The depth in which taiji explores these kinds of movements though is really fascinating

Anyone know if there is a 2nd part of this video?
-
At last - someone with an emphasis on the principles. This is the first thing every internal martial arts practitioner should learn before starting any form - and it is seldom taught first.

Which dvd is this from?

Wow! amazing instruction

Excellent instruction. The next best thing to working one-on-one with someone who really understands the internal dynamics of Taijiquan. The translation is not easy to follow unless one has some actual experience practicing the movements correctly. I can't stress this enough. That said, this is the best rendition I've yet seen or heard of the very crucial, but absolutely required quality of movement one must have in order to perform quality TJQ. Thanks for posting!

@danaustin2 sure sure, got any video of him actually doing that though? The world could benefit from such a clear demonstration of pure taijiquan skill
this is good instruction. I was practicing for years with no apparent progress. all of the sudden {pop} things line up and work.
keep practicing everybody
thanks!
