This is the MASTA control program for manually or automatically controlling all legs of the STIC Insect walking robot. MASTA is an acronym for "Mobile-robot Automatic Surface Transition Adaptation". This software communicates with 8 x 8-bit microcontrollers (HC11) to set all the position and force targets for all pneumatic cylinders. This software was developed and written from scratch with Visual Basic 6 for MS-DOS, but it can be adapted to Windows. Note that you can command the STIC Insect to walk forwards & backwards (insect gait), sidestep left & right (reptile gait) and rotate on the spot (clockwise & anti-clockwise). You can even adjust the default walking height (or body height above the ground) and manually control any robot leg.
