All of our family's Bassets have been very very docile and so gentle with children, even when they've been pulling their silky ears they never been bothered at all.

hounds are very protective and attentive too my daughter and my basset hound are the best of friends she is 11 and he is 2

Not all basset's are as good with kids as that one. I've had two bassett hounds, and they both had bad tempers, and I had a friend whose bassett was the same. Had that been one of my dogs that could would have gotten bit. So still keep your eyes peeled quietkrunk, just to be on the safe side.
PS, this video is great, that bassett is adorable.

this video is the reason why i decided to go with the basset hound after narrowing my breed choices down to 2. I have a 4 year old nephew that visits almost everyday and some of my closest friends have children the same age of this child and younger and I need a dog that can tolerate young children. Thanks for posting and I know i'm going to love my basset ACE when he gets here(he's still in his 8 weeks)
