I've been asked to compare and contrast two plotters on the T-Shirt Forums (http://www.t-shirtforums.com) and this is another noise comparison between a Roland GX-24, Copam CP-2500, and a Graphtec CE5000-60 (I'm thowing our Graphtec in the mix, and US Cutter is sending a LaserPoint soon, to add, also).

This one is a little more unbiased than my other video. I'm using about the same camera angle on all plotters with the camera about the same distance away from each plotter.

The reason the fan noise is so loud with the Roland and Graphtec plotters is that the camera was close to the machines. That noise is cut down substantially when you get a few feet away from these plotters.

  • My cutter sounds like an army tank in comparison to any of those...

  • Copam sounds like R2D2 on lsd

  • I would never buy a Copam but thought it sounded cool.

  • that Roland cutter is quiet AND sexy :)

  • Thanks for the great video comparing the two!

  • I just purchased the Graphtec and after the initial test cut I love it!

But the fans are the loudest part of the machine, they are only running when the machine is cutting, but they are pretty loud. And the cutting head makes a banging noise when it moves down to cut. That concerned me for a moment until I listened to the graphtec in this video, both it and the Roland do the metal banging noise. But the auto sensor is amazing for detecting the length of material automatically.

  • Thanks for putting up this comparison! Love it! I'm thinking about buying the Copam, how would you compare it to the Roland and Graphtec?

  • Dem' sticks of dynamite under the Roland?? =)

IMO, the Graphtec sounded the smoothest/quietest! I'm sure they're all capable plotters however.

  • I personally like to hear something going on with my machines. It is often a tell tale sign of trouble when that sound changes.

Noise can be a sign of a successful business to many ears.
