The very viscous beads of dew of Drosera filiformis are so gluey they hold many victims. Even a small butterfly couldn't escape.

  • piranhaboy01, i can see that the plant gets the prey stuck, but then what happens? How does it eat and digest it? it doesnt have any stomach fluid like venus fly traps and pichter plants.

  • Indeed they do have fluid. Those shiny beads contain glues and enzymes. The glue holds the prey and then the plant begins to "sweat" over the insect. Then the plant drinks the liquid back after dissolving the prey.

  • You could totaly use carnivorous plants in place of citronella and Off spray at a picnic!!! Just put the flower pots next to your guests!!

  • @BrianSwimmy it's either the flies are too large or the plant is weak. once the fly is stuck, it only takes overnight for the leaf to be wrapped around the fly

  • can you trip on beads? lol jk i don't wanna know

  • Wow. These plants look pretty cool.

  • I have had great luck in growing both the American sundew and South African sundews. Those from South America and Australia have been a challenge.

  • because these are cape sundews <_< they're

Drosera Filliformis XD totally different species :P

  • how come your sundews arent rolling up to digest and hold?

  • Facinating FAiliformis Tracia / Keep up the good work and happy growing /

  • i think i have the same one but it still needs to grow.
