On Oct. 24, 2009 I attended the funeral for Sgt. Anthony Gabriel Green who was killed in Afghanistan.
I had never attended a military funeral before and something that absolutely amazed me occurred on the way to the cemetery. It seemed as if every single resident of this Texas town that wasn't in the church, had lined the streets FOR MILES with flags and signs of support for Sgt Green, his family and for all of our troops.
Unfortunately, all I had with me was the rinky-dinky camera in my phone - the pictures in this video don't do justice to the number of people and the emotion they each had in their eyes. It was an absolutely surreal experience of love.
I snapped the photos anyway, however, so I could share this outpouring with veterans, and in particular, to those who are still serving, to let you know how much you are loved back home.
We may not be blood related, we may not know each of you personally, but I hope these pictures will let you know how much your country loves and appreciates you.
