This shows how Typhon's Bane and the Head of Euryale can be used very effectively as defensive weapons. Neither weapon requires much magic energy left in the gauge and merely drawing them doesn't consume any magic, although you can follow up the enemy's missed attack with a few blasts from Typhon's Bane, as I did a few times in this battle. Also, in the case of Euryale, so long as there's merely a sliver of blue available in the magic gauge, you will be able to use the Head this way.

Also, notice how during Zeus' attempts to steal the Blade of Olympus from Kratos, I was able to string together a combo of Slashes with the Blade of Olympus by using the magic weapons to "guard" during these attemps.
